ok, so now that we have chicken fever........

We've found a few breeds we like and I got to wondering.
We'd have to keep all the breeds seperate or we'd have crosses all over the place right?
So if we had 3-4 females and 1 male of a breed we'd have to keep them together and so on for the umpteen breeds we like now, haha!

Or just pick one we want to actually hatch ckicks and keep them together and then use the rest for eggs only...?

How does one decide how to do that?!?!?!
I can see us having 15 different breeds but I don't want to have to pen them all up and have 25 coops around.
I guess we could do one with different runs like we've seen in the coop section...

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, just got me wondering!
Take care all,
Angela

This is what I do. I let them live together and run amongst themselves in the day. If I want pure bred eggs, I pick the lucky guy and hens I want to use. Coop them up, and use those eggs starting about 3 weeks after isolation.

ohhhhh, so we can let them lay eggs all the time, gathering them and when we want to hatch we seperate, leave them together and continue to gather eggs for about three weeks than after that let them hatch, whew....
TU TU TU ... VERY MUCH!!
