Message contains attachmentsfeed stores.doc (177KB)I was at the Brockton/Middleboro, MA Fair yesterday to pick up my birds
and attend the informal Swap & Sell in the morning. There were only 5
sellers, myself, Bill Freitas, Karen Hutchinson, Dave Anderson and
Cyrena Moquin. Dave Anderson tells me the club has pretty much cancelled
all the normal events with no newsletter to announce them. That would
include the Sept. Swap & Sell held the last 5 years at the Fairgrounds
in Lancaster, MA. The Fairgrounds were available to us for Sept. 14.
Since it appears we will not be holding that event, the Milford, NH
event on the same date may be a fall back. It's about 28-30 miles north
of the Lancaster site, so depending upon what gas costs, what's your MPG
and how much you have to sell, it might be worth considering. It's free
so that may offset some of the extra gas costs.

Wendy: I ran the New England Bantam Club's September Poultry and Small
Animal Swap and Sell for last 5 years and we normally had 27 to 32
vendors. Last year the NEBC did not issue a summer newsletter and the
September newsletter announcing it did not come out until October so
there was little notice and only 19 vendors showed up, 10 of whom were
nonmembers who heard about it from other sources. It was also held later
than normal, on Sept. 30. We run an ad announcing the event in the Want
ADvertiser and also sent out flyers to nearly 100 feed and grain stores
in Mass, RI, eastern CT and southern NH. I also passed out flyers at
the Boston Poultry Association's August poultry flea market in
Holliston, MA. However, our club charged a fee of $7 to set up and
non-members were charged $10. Since it cost $100 to rent the
fairgrounds, the $163 we generated covered the cost of event.

You may wish to consider distributing flyers to area feed stores. Most
are happy to post them for you. If you want me to make up and pass out
flyers for you at the Boston flea market just send me the information.

I have also attached a list of feed stores I have used in the past.

I was wondering about the status of the Lancaster(Bolton Fairgrounds) swap. Now I know.

I have been getting emails from people that saw my postings on Craigslist asking if there is another chicken Stock coming up. I have been replying with the Sept 14th info.

A flier to print out would be helpful as well. I have noticed that my local Agway has moved their horse supply area to a smaller section. Now the chicken/poultry supplies are taking up more shelf and floor space. I am guessing that the one two towns over is the same.

i wonder if someone could make one up and put it on here so we can copy it ? anyone? cheryl did the last one, and i havent heard from here, she just said it wasnt done yet, she did one with the wrong date . anyone?
