Sure is!! I'm on day 12. waiting for day 14 to candle and mark air sacs again. I had 12/12 looking good at day 7 so hoping for a continuation of that on Thursday night. Ahhhh the waiting game.

My husband officially called me 'addicted' this morning when he woke up and found me on BYC. Oh well, addictions need to be treated. I told him it could be 'treated' with the collection of some pallets this week so I can make a grow out pen.... hehehehe

I had to help the chick that had been stuck for over 24 hours. I could tell the shell was stuck to it. Now that it is out, it still has some membrane and shell on its back close to its neck and it is in the fetal position. I will not stand or lift head. Still peeping and rolling around. What do I do??!

Just keep a good eye on your humidity during incubation and up it by adding extra water during the last 3 days to at leas 85-90% and you should be fine. P.S. and patience will be a virtue, lol, best of luck.

Hey all! Just joining in. I have 2 committed Guinea hens on a nest of approximately 30 eggs. One hen had been sitting for about a week. I haven't been able to candle any of the eggs yet since there are two hens alternating but I've been keeping my eye out to see when I will be able to sneak in and take a quick peek. Last year we had our first successful hatch of 35 keets so I'm really excited to see what we get this year. I really want another Buff one. Good luck to all!!

If the pieces are large you can moisten the membrane and shell and gently pick it off. If is just bits I preen it of with my finger nails.
The ones who get stuck have a longer more exhausting time than the others so often they need more time to get on their feet. I give the chicks either pedialite or a sugar water mixed with a small dash of salt to help them out. I give it to them by eye dropper or syringe until they are strong enough to drink on their own. I also make sure they have access to food while they fluff up.

I think when they spend more time in the egg trying to struggle free they can use up the yolk and need food and water to give them a boost before they can walk.
