2 week olds in the brooder in the big girl coop! Looks like I have more than just the 2 frizzles!

Is it normal for a hen to leave the nest when chicks are hatching. My pullett has done this with all 4 that have hatched. Or is it just because she is new? I guess I should just be thankful she didn't kill them.

No one is due until next Friday but I did receive 19 more chicks yesterday. Oh chicken math!

I know! I have 5 mille fleur / porcelain Old English Game Bantams still going strong. I upped the humidity already though because the air cells are getting way too big. I have a feeling these will be day 18/19 hatches.

Should I assist this one or leave it until Dash leaves the nest. It's been like this since yesterday. The bloody egg in the middle.

Well I left it in the nest and then I had to rescue it this afternoon as Dash and the other chicks were tearing into it. So it is now in the incubator while it finishes absorbing everything.

Another chick seems to have quit on me yesterday. They are out of the turner. Fingers crossed I get the four out and healthy and they are females. These eggs have gone from being a great bargain at 18 for $32 to some very expensive chicks! lol

Not having very good luck for my first time around.
shipped Lavenders 12 set - 5 made it to lock-down under broody - 1 hatched then mauled by broody - hoping it will make it. It was the last to hatch. It is in my house in a box next to the incubator with food, water and heat lamp. Not sure if it will make it.
BBS started local - 12 put under broody - 1 egg broke in nest broody tore it open, chick didn't make it. 2 Blue, 2 black, 1 splash hatched. Broody killed the splash. but she is doing good with the other 4 chicks. the Blues and blacks were the first to hatch and were 2 days ahead of the splash and lavender. Moved rest of the 10 eggs to incubator to hatch. 1 was chirping in the egg when I put it in. No external pip yet.
Lavender local - 4 eggs in the incubator and on lock down today.
BBS local - 2 eggs in the incubator and on lock down today.

That makes 16 eggs in the incubator hopefully some will hatch.
