September Hatch-A-Long!

I bred mine from my own flock for the first time so I have no idea how they will turn out. Exciting isn't it? ;-)
So exciting especially when you don't know what's gonna pop out lol! Good luck with yours I'm sure they will be adorable!!! My mom has a batch in our bator right now so I'm going through withdrawal we went an picked up 18 chicken last night somebody was downsizing for winter we won't keep them all I have a lot of people asking for eggs and chickens so we have some bartering set up lol works for me especially in this economy! Got them all for $35 so that wasn't bad 10 chicks,1 silkie, 2 Roos and 5 laying hens!!! Some are banty some are large breed

Sounds like you got yourself a real bargain bucket there, Celonecoop!

Lol I never realised how addictive chickens are. I just wanted 4 hens so we could have a few eggs. Now I have 6 laying girls, 1 rooster, 4 sixteen week old X breeds from hatching eggs I bought for a broody hen, 8 two week old chicks and 4 eggs under another broody! And I still want to hatch more! Yes, I'm definitely addicted!

yes I know the feeling very addictive we're not keeping all trading some for stuff we need like field stone for in front of the coops where the water seems to lay. But I have 17 2 week old peeps in the brooder they are all large breed :0)

Sounds good. Who needs money when you can trade in chickens? Lol I'd be pretty well off!!
My broody hatched her 4 eggs although 1 didn't make it. It was hatched and fluffed up too! The other 3 are beautiful though.

We only had two out of seven hatch and only one survived. The other was curled in the wrong end of the egg and the membrane was stuck all over it.
We tried so hard to save it, but were not successful.

My problem now is that our little Dottie cries all night. During the day she has to be with one of us at all times and at night she keeps us awake crying till we pick her up. Somehow I have to find her a sibling or two her age to keep her company, but TSC has none right now and I don't know anyone in my area with chicks.

I have a turkey that hatched alone. So now I share my bed with a turkey. SHe hates to sleep alone. The sock keeps the poops under control.

So when can we expect the "Max and Me" book? I would buy it. Maddy and I love hearing about Max. nd her jammies are soooo cute. Right now Dottie is sleeping in a drawer of my dresser. It's big enough and deep enough to hold her, food and water and a heat lamp, but it won't hold her for long. DH and DD are going to Greenville today to a guy who has week old chicks. They are, hopefully going to find Dot Dot some little friends to keep her company. Then we will work on building them a bigger brooder. DH says if we get more chicks that we will miss out on all the time we get to love on Dottie...we say nope...just more to love, lol.
