September Hatch-A-Long

I have been waiting for a few days for shipped eggs and it's killing me. I thought they were shipping on Saturday and then when I got the tracking number today it looks like they went out Monday. Tracking said they were expected today but tracking hasn't updated since yesterday. Surely they will come tomorrow... I want my eggs!! My duck has been sitting a few days now.

I just needed to vent a little...

I understand totally. Hopefully they will be there early am so you can start waiting. ..and waiting. ..you know the circle of life and incubation. :D

Oy! Reading about all of your hatches and clutches and chickies is making me wish I hadn't leant out my incubator even though I already have a living room full of chicks!!!

Its probably good that they sent them on Monday so they weren't sitting at the post office in who knows what condition over the weekend. :p Personally I prefer all my eggs be shipped on Monday even if it's 3 day shipping... Just in case.

Thanks for the sympathy, I guess I just want them to get here so I can start worrying about air cells and if I should incubate them for a while before I try to put them under my duck and if my duck will sit on them because last time she didn't and will they hatch and what if they need my help and is it getting too cold and how will I get them out of the chicken coop and how will they get along with the ducks I already have and how big will my duck house need to be????!!!!!!!

Just kidding.... kind of

I was glad they went out Monday since they still hadn't gotten here... two less days in the mail is good. I just wish I had known... worrying for days is exhausting, I better get a grip on myself : )

I was hanging out with the homeschoolers yesterday and telling them all about our incubating "science project" and some were so interested, I thought about loaning out a bator, but in my mind I was thinking "what if I need it... if I loan it out, I am definitely going to need it" so I just kept my mouth shut.

Finally!! After trying and failing to pip at the wrong end very late Tuesday night and after an entire day Wednesday, and overnight though to today, of help from me chipping away shell and keeping it wet by darling on warm water every hour or two, while the rest of the veins and yolk were absorbed my second chick finally kicked out of it's shell a few minutes ago!....now excuse me while I go get some desperately needed sleep

Hi everyone!! I'm still working with 4 of my chicks. I posted in another thread but not sure if anyone is answering in it anymore. What has anyone learned from sticky chicks?? I remember I had one last hatch and my chicks didn't seem to fluff quickly. This hatch has been awful. My 4 blues are pretty good, had a 2 with some dried hard spots but are in the brooder and look good. My BLR's are just terrible. I made sure yesterday and anytime I help a chick out, I clean them up before leaving them. I woke up this morning and they are sooo sticky I had to wash them and towel them and put back in the bator. 2 chicks I think if they fluff will come out and go to brooder. 1 chick I saw has a curled foot and will have to tape it and the other chick I'm not sure will make it. The chick that I don't think will live can't get its neck right and is just flopping on its side. Anyways all the chicks are so much smaller this hatch, I'm guessing the humidity difference. I don't know anything much about the blues but I'm hoping that I have one or two black! I is for sure blue and 1 is splash. I will take pictures soon. Good luck to all!!

I'm 100% positive they are her eggs so I was expecting blondie there to be black. I was surprised! I wish I could see what they look like when they feather out but these are sold. That's the only bad thing about this deal!

I ordered a couple of BCM eggs on my last hatch. One of the two that hatched was black with yellow belly, the other hatched with white coloring. We named them Ebony and Ivory. They both lay dark eggs, though ivory's eggs are not as deep chocolate as Ebony's eggs.

In the last pic, Ebony is right in front of Ivory.

Day 14 for me on this hatch.:pop
