Don't worry if there's a pip and a delay. That delay can be upwards of 24 hours while the yolk sac is absorbing. Please don't try to help the chick during this period of time... it'll be a mess for both of you! (So many people mean well and then are saddened by the outcome)

I am not going to mess with them. I am going to go to bed and sleep well. Hopefully my 3 pips will turn into a bakers dozen by tomorrow. We are just into day 20 now.

Square root of 108 is 10.39  which we will add in later.


Ebay eggs are 47 points  just cause they are so hard to hatch..

Mailed eggs is another  2 points per egg  14x2=28


However, because there are no dogs involved you do not get the 30 points for canine contact, sorry.

So he it goes:

Regular math 50%
plus                20
 plus                10.39
plus                  47
plus                  28...


Gives you a chicken math total of 155.39%

Not bad at all!     

I do not expect you to get chicken math right off the bat. I am like an Einstein with numbers and it took me 2 months to understand it...

11/16 hatched on day 21! .

4/16 have pips but no zips.

1/16 still asleep. Don't know how with all that ruckus but I did put the egg in 12 hrs after the others.

My early pips have no progress yet. Should I be concerned?

I wouldn't be! One of my very first pips is still working at it after 9 others have hatched....

We had two more hatch overnight and my DD has just called out to say another is hatching and there are 3 kids' heads in the window so I'm not even bothering!

So up to a total of 5 (or 6) with an unknown quantity of each - they have huddled together and they find the newborn and go to them when they come out of the egg - how cute is that?

How is everyone else going??

Tiny ducklings are so loving! They are so sweet with each other. When I hatched ducks and peachicks at the same time, I had the peachicks in the brooder already and they were kind of forlorn, not knowing what to do and when I put some ducklings in they started snuggling each other and the peachicks... it was the sweetest thing ever, teaching the peachicks how to snuggle and then they all fell asleep. Of course it wasn't long before the peachicks became pretty disgusted by how messy and obnoxious the duckilings quickly became!

Wow! So all this happened while you were at work? Lol. You've got a pretty darn good hatch rate there! I didn't do the thing with the egg carton, but I might next time...my guys have made an incredible mess of things!! About 7 eggs are shoved up one end and the two eggs down the playroom end must have headaches! One is trying to hatch but he keeps getting knocked for six and takes another rest!
