Hello!! It‘a my second time raising and incubating chicks but it’s my first time with Seramas :flI had two hatching in my incubator and weirdly enough both had really big combs:

I‘ve been taking some pictures over the two weeks and I was wondering if both of them are actually cockerels because of their big comb. I totally understand that it’s wayyy to early to tell but i was curious if someone made some experience with this.

I would appreciate it if someone can help me out.
Lots of love!

Yes. Sorry. I think so too. 50% chance doesn’t mean it’s equally divided.

First hatch I had 3p/3c (2 didn’t hatch)
Second 2p/1c (9-)
Third 1p/4c (2-)
Fourth 2p/1c (7-)
So I was lucky I had at least 1 pullet in every hatch. The bad outcomes were from transported eggs/ 1 broody leaving the nest.

If I want yo be confident to have a few girls I give my broodies a surplus of eggs. Because there are allways a few that don’t hatch. And too many girls are never hard to sell.
