Serama Hatch-A-Long!!

Pics
Here she is... Apparently, she is already laying fertile eggs so if I get some eggs soon I will incubate them and see what I get!

As I look at my new little Silkie hen I notice she isn't as "silkied" as my little cockerel. I wonder what is up with that? Feather quality perhaps?

She laid her first egg today so that is sweet! I have little hen that just went broody too, so I am going to give her a few eggs from the silkied hen and see what hatches, at least they will be half silkied and unrelated to my roo.

My replacement eggs are on day 4... I can hardly wait to know what they are doing. My only developing egg from the original batch has quit... I really don't understand what is up with those eggs, it's crazy.

My new eggs are on day 7 today! It looks like I have 5 out of 6 developing, with one clear. Happy news! I am turning them twice a day or so now. I guess I was paranoid from the first set but they surely were old. Now I am excited... Less than two weeks to go. :weee

I am putting a couple of eggs from the new little hen under my broody today. I wanted to do it yesterday but thought that if I waited till today that I can slip tomorrow's egg under her too and they should hatch pretty close together.

I am reconfiguring a bunch of coops this fall and am excited. I have a couple quite small Roos in beautiful colors, mottled tri-color and black Crele, that are getting ladies.

I set my new eggs Friday night. the shipment only had 5 pure serama eggs, but they are all from silkied pens. The air cells on these are looking much better than previous eggs, but we'll see what develops.

So out of the 5 pure serama 4 are showing veins
and 1 out of the 3 serama x EE eggs.

I'm getting more serama eggs Friday. The lady I got them from sent what she had last week, but ran short so she's sending more.
