Serama Hatch-A-Long!!

Pics
I candled my eggs again. I had five developing and now 3 of those have quit!?! I don't get it. For local eggs, it just doesn't make sense to me. I feel like something is wrong with her eggs. My eggs in the same incubator are hatching just fine.

I am bummed, I put the two I have left in a still air incubator thinking that may be more gentle for them.

I am glad I have my little silkied guy, he is ridiculous, I love his personality. I was still hoping to hatch some more from her. I can't justify buying more eggs if they all quit. :(

I candled as well today. I have 3 pure serama from last week still going and one serama mix egg. I also have 7 banty EEs going strong in there as well :fl

I also got the new eggs today. 7 pure serama 3 mix eggs and 2 banty EEs. The air cells on most look iffy but I'm still holding out Hope.

I have seen photos of their bantam EEs, they are adorable!! They have a horse that paints too!

My serama X EE roo I hatched from them is turning out nicely colored. Unfortunatly I have him in with another roo the same age and they keep going at one another so he's looking a bit ragged. I cant wait to see what the new eggs hatch out.

Candled today. Day 12 and 5 on my 2 shipments. Things are happening!
down to 10 eggs on the 1st set ( still have 3 pure serama going from these)

I have 9 eggs developing from the second set
2 serama X EE
5 pure serama
2 bantam EE

please let them make it through lock down and hatch

As I look at my new little Silkie hen I notice she isn't as "silkied" as my little cockerel. I wonder what is up with that? Feather quality perhaps?

She laid her first egg today so that is sweet! I have little hen that just went broody too, so I am going to give her a few eggs from the silkied hen and see what hatches, at least they will be half silkied and unrelated to my roo.

My replacement eggs are on day 4... I can hardly wait to know what they are doing. My only developing egg from the original batch has quit... I really don't understand what is up with those eggs, it's crazy.

Is your silkied girl laying? If so how many eggs have you gotten off her so far? ( Trying focus on the good here

how are your replacement eggs doing?

I am so happy that many of your eggs are doing well!!

3 of my replacement eggs quit! I have 2 left, so I put them in my still air hatcher hoping I could save them. I think they are on day 17. I am afraid to candle again but hope they will hatch in the next few days!

My silkied hen has laid 8 eggs... I put 6 under a couple broody hens and have two more. I know she was in a mixed feather group so I think that is why her feathers aren't super silkied. I am very excited to see what hatches from her eggs! It is like getting free hatching eggs, not sure how long they will stay fertile.

Today is day 19 for my special silkied Serama eggs, of which I have two left! I thought I would candle them quickly and I swear I heard a peep. It appeared to be internally pipped but it didn't look like a normal internal pip so I did open the air cell. It is malpositioned and couldn't pip externally. I didn't see any veins at all so I am glad I helped. Hopefully it will make it, it looks good. I hope it is a girl too. :fl :fl :fl

The other one is seriously malpositioned with its head and yolk right at the air cell. The chick is less than half the size of the other chick! Not as hopeful, but we'll see.

wishing you lots of good luck!!!

I'm trying not to get my hopes to high about my eggs so I'll take yours if it's a boy :)
I have a sweet little serama X EE I'm almost sure is a girl. If she is I want to pair her with a pure serama. I don't know what to do with her bro at this point but my daughter loves him quite a bit so I think he will end up staying.
Agggggggg.........I need to see what I get out of these eggs so I can clarify my breeding plan for spring.
