Serama Hatch-A-Long!!

I assisted a little. Chipped away some of the shell. I also broke the outer membrane at the air sac just a bit. I'm noticing more movement from the chick and louder peeping. If she doesn't progress I'll help more.

My Serama eggs go in to lockdown on Friday with possible hatch date fora week from tomorrow. I'm nervous. Lol. I have to candle two more times.

We have a chick! And another egg is zipping right now, it's a silkie though. And another Serama is pipping! This is such a relief since the power outage!

Well, I'm off to a rough start. I calibrated my hygrometer last night and it's off by 13%! So that explains a lot. Any tips on where I can get a new good digital one fast? I checked Walmart last night and their selection wasn't ideal.

Well, as long as you know how much it is off by you can use it. I had one I had to put a sticker on that said +4 so I could remember. Oddly enough, months later it now matches my other one that was correct.

How long do chicks need the brooder lamp? I cant remember lol.

@mommaduck2014 I tend to keep mine under it at least 8-9 weeks. I'm not sure if Seramas are different, but with the chilly temps I would think longer

@darkbluespace thank you! Chick count is up to 2 with the 3rd almost out of the shell and yet another pip. So far 2 seramas and one white silkie! Super excited!
