Serama Hatching

HAHAHA.. Lori is dead on.. women "always know".. hahaha we just choose our battles wisely!!!

Okay, let me step in it big time here.

Don't assume that men don't use that same strategy of picking up on non-verbal cues when women are lying. While women might pick and choose their battles, I think some men would rather avoid, altogether, the battles, drama, and what would certainly be a pre-ordained outcome - an argument they can never win. How many of you guys have ever thought you won an argument with a woman? If you've ever thought you won, it's because the women let you think you've won. Right Lori?

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. I swear it's true.

Donald Duck-ing (quack) as the eggs fly.

All kidding aside, I'd rather take my skinning like Frank and live to enjoy the $500.00 incubator with a clear conscience.

Donald, you sound just like my husband!!!! And, yes, you're right, you're not ever going to win an argument with a woman - at least you're smart enough to have figured that out!! Oh, and by the way, women aren't from Venus - we're from wherever we want to be from and that's that!!!

Wait a minute!!! Men using non-verbal cues??? Sure - as long as you're talking about the ones we women "shout" at you so that you'll pick up on them!!!

You can add my DH to your list of men who would rather take their skinning and enjoy their new toys! In his case it's usually some rediculous tool. Now, if it was a $500 incubator, there wouldn't be any problem at all!!! LOL!!!

You know, from reading this you'd think my DH has it pretty rough - actually he's very spoiled!!!!

Lori,

I'm sensing something non-verbal from you. Could you write it again, but in all caps so I'll pick up on it.

Just kidding here.

Over the years I've gotten especially good at recognizing hand/finger signals which my wife occasionally uses to communicate her displeasure with me.

Just so this post includes something about chickens, I would comment that there are many parallels between human and chicken behavior. Take the average rooster, for example. He displays all sorts of odd behavior in an attempt to woo the hen (gifts, strutting, posturing, dancing). The hen then decides if the rooster is worthy. Sound familiar?
smile.png
The rooster crows loudly each morning to announce his presence and territory while the hen patiently waits on him to shut up so that she can get on with the real work of the day - laying the egg. I wonder if the rooster ever thinks that it's better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission. I know that I do.

Frank, I saw several pairs of Serama's at Dipsy Doodle Doo's place in Aiken, SC. I wonder if she got those from you? She had a Crele Serama rooster that caught my eye.

Everbody's gotta have dreams.

What is bad is men think they invented that -- Please sneak that in that way you won't notice the 15 new Serama in the cages- That is what makes us women so much smarter then men ..

I don't sell Serama eggs for exactly the reasons given they are hard to hatch when shipped - and it has to be the incuabtor that these hatch rates so high - cuz the posted accepted hatching rate is 55 % to 65 % on non - shipped. The hard part is fertility in true Class A size birds - My roo mr.mini and a size C girl isn't happening for whatever reason but he works with my 2 A's for males the girls are Butt- Ugly Serama and sent to happy land down the street for a chicken heaven life -

I had very little luck hand turning also which I perfer -

if you get any tips pass them on--

true A birds are not common and most of the time poor layers and fertility stinks. i am checking some A bird eggs right now. the incubator is a big deal. i gave 24 eggs to a school here local and they hatched one out of 24 eggs/ we found out that the school cuts the heat down at night and the cheaper incubator could not adjust for the cooler temps. i put 7 eggs under a chick and 5 hatch 2 don't. same with the 1502 sportsman- put 24 in and you get 15-18 birds out. if your roo's do the job correctly... i like b birds better myself and c hens make good broodies...

i am scared to ship anymore this year due to the holidays and treatment of boxes during these holidays by the usps. but if you need some eggs after the holiday i will try to help you get some. let me know

ref to dippsy doodle doo- i remember that name but can't say for sure...

frank

I agree about the bator being the differance, as when we started everyone told us about the bad hatch rates so we went in to this thinking we would be lucky with a 50% hatch.. with the sportsman 1502 we have had 95% (or better) with the Serama, course all have been our eggs other than the ones we got from Frank, but we had 17 out of 19 fertile hatch from Frank... So I certainly agree it has to be the incubator
