I was researching bantams that are cold hardy and good egg layers (not the easiest to find), and on the My Pet Chicken breed selector tool, Seramas came up and in their description, they were described as cold hardy. I can’t keep house chickens, but do have 13 other bantams that they would live with year round. The temps here get down to around 2-3 degrees Fahrenheit at the absolute lowest, and I have a Modern Game Bantam that does fine, and even is the first chicken out in the mornings. Does anyone have any suggestions for them? I would love to get a couple of Serama hens, I’m just worried about the cold. Are certain strains more cold hardy? Are there any breeders that you could point me toward? I’m located in Northern California, about an hour and a half from Reno, NV.
