I have 2 little Serama roosters and I was wondering if they are running about right as far as age/wt. They are 50 days old and weigh 5 ounces. When do you know whether they will be A, B or C?

Thanks for sooo guessing

I think thats a pretty good guess. Maybe they will gain an ounce more after. They really change look wise though through a year. At least mine have. I am not too big on the ounce wise either unless they are humo(sp?)ngess

I have a digital scale my husband uses for work that can weigh a feather so it's just been fun to weigh them

I was really impressed with it when I weighed them at 3 days old and they were a whopping 0.5 ounces!

It's just been fun, actually the fun part has been getting them to sit still on it long enough to weigh them.

I'm not worried about it so much as curious and I figured since there is a class difference related to weight, that people who raised them would be weighing, and keeping record of them. I'm doing just cause I can and it's fun. Besides that, they are getting more used to me setting them on it and asking them to stay put, at least a few seconds.

I'm keeping a record of my Serama's weights. Mine were 4.5 and 6 ounces at days so they are right in line with mine.

My cockerel crowed at 8 weeks so yours should in a week or so.

Very cool

That's what I was hoping to hear. Fun getting them weighed eh? lol
These 2 little guys are very sweet though and do their best to sit still. I can't wait to hear them crow

Do yours act like little roosters and play fight? I have been worrying mine will start fussing and I'll have to separate them. I'm looking for a nice pen for them to live in this winter in my garage. I'm planning to use the cage they're in now for some other birds that will stay out this winter. I really only want a pair or trio to tend to this winter but if he doesn't sell, I'll just find another cage............of course then I'll have to have a couple more hens.

Uhhh, I used to have friends who used a delicate digital scale for "work" also. I didn't know it had an "ounce" function, they just left it in grams!

My husbands is pounds/ounces only but there are lots of online conversion tools and I can convert it that way. I use a formula every day at work to convert pounds to kg's for patients weights so I should be able to do that in my head too but it's just too easy to use the converter online.

My 5 ounce Serama is 142 grams (rounded) at 50 days old then
