((Serious Gardening))

If that were me I'd be covering the carpet with plastic and getting lots of lights! They won't do as well indoors but at least they'd have a chance, and living in a jungle can be fun :D

LOL

We don't have any space in our apartment. LOL We have the contents of a garage/shop in what a normal person would call a living room. No couches or entertainments systems to be had in our place. LOL

But I did manage to take about half of that pile home over memorial day weekend. There are now only 16 buckets and 5 pots out there...

HAHAHA Sounds like my kinda place! When people see my living room they always ask if I'm getting ready for a garage sale. I always just say "yes." Well, I am. Sorta. Maybe.

If you put a load of comfrey leaves in a bucket and add water, cover (coz it will stink!!!!) and wait for a couple of months, you will be rewarded with wonderful liquid feed for your plants. All you need to do is dilute the resulting feed with water and hey presto - happy plants!!!!! I grow my comfrey in an old wooden tra;, the sort of thing that fruit often comes in; lined with plastic and pierced for drainage, add multipurpose compost and plant. The plant is fairly hardy and will regrow after the winter. Enjoy the results.

That is what I did w/ my comfrey, I haven't used the liquid yet, but am about to try it.

I have a TON of comfrey leaves now and I'm really thinking of getting a plastic trash can to do this with. Did some in a bucket but the way those plants are growing, I could easily fill a regular size trash can.

Me too, I keep cutting it and it keeps growing back like crazy, I need to cut it again especially the patch in the front where the chickens don't have access.

Which comfrey do you grow?

I hear there is one that is not so invasive, ours wants to take over and the roots are DEEP

The bocking varieties (there are a few 4 and 14 are the most popular) are non invasive, the seeds are nearly completely sterile and can only be propogated through root cuttings. That being said any smallest almost microscopic piece of root will grow. So while not spreading invasive, once put in a specific location will be nearly impossible to remove from it. I have the bocking 4.

Oh and the chickens love it, and it is good for them, the bocking varieties were bred specifically as animal fodder.

I think mine is the Bocking 14. I know for sure it's Bocking, one of the sterile seeded ones. My chickens have too much greenery to choose from, they're too picky now to eat the comfrey. When they were able to reach it some they nibbled on it from time to time but never really ate it up. I think the leaves are too fuzzy for their tastes.
