So, I am brand new to chickens, I am SOOOO thankful that I found BYC:bow You guys all seem to be life savers and I was hoping you could save mine. This all started with a trip to Rural King last year. We kicked the idea of keeping a backyard flock around a bit. Then a week and a half ago, I bought 5 chicks.

They are Silver Laced Wyandottes. I was hoping for 4 pullets and a roo...but of course nobody knew anything about them. A guy knew a bit and tried to help me get what I wanted. I will post pics later, wishful thinking is I have 1 roo and 4 pullets, one of which has some roo characterisitcs. But in all honesty I don't know a darn thing about sexing them. I've tried vent sexing, and even that is all greek to me.

I got NOWHERE. I will post some pics later as soon as I can figure it out. Any help I can get is much appreciated!

this is the first, I think it's a roo. We've been calling him(?) Robot.

I think #1 looks iffy alot of pink in wattles and comb
the rest look like Pullets Im so not an expert thou just my opinion of the looks of them

I am still trying to figure mine out! LOL

I love them all but Robot is our favorite. He handles really well and I have no doubt that he'll be following us around in the backyard in no time. He comes ove to us now and will sit in our hands contently. He doesn't chirp, or get all wriggly, he just sits there and snuggles. I also think he has beautiful feathers. The soon to be 14 year old named him Robot because he likes "Robot Chicken"on cartoon network.

any ideas how old thay might be? Nobody at the store knew, not the most knowledgeable people working there. From looking at other peoples chicks and ages when the took the pics i guess 3 weeks.

<3<3 I <3 Chickens <3<3 :

I think only robot is a boy

Thank God! that's what I'm hoping for, because the one with redish wattles doesn't really have much going in the way of wattles, and Cricket's comb doesn't look nearly that pink. In person it's more of a redish brown sandy color. But, I guess I'll find out sooner or later. If I actually understood vent sexing and the differences I guess i'd know for sure...
