Seriously considering getting some chickens in South Alabama

Howdy again. Well, I'm still working on things. I did go ahead and order a 1588 w/turner and a 1605 for a hatcher so I'll be going the hatching route.

I've still got some logistical planning to do...house, coup, etc., but should be getting that underway shortly (just got through getting a new roof on our house).

As for breeds, I think I've got it a bit more narrowed down.

Dominiques

I was figuring on ordering from a hatchery but after reading more I'm hoping to purchase eggs from an individual breeder.

The wheels in the brain are still spinning....

warning you may start out wanting 1-3 breeds but chickens are addicting, in a few years I bet you have at least 5 breeds and looking for more. I started out with 9 chicks a couple of years ago and now I have a total of 64 most of those being chicks bought this year. I love my Buffs even as babies they love to be petted and run to the door when they see me.

I just love chickens. I hear someone is trying to start a chicken AA meeting at a Tractor Supply if they have chicks count me in.
