Seriously? NOBODY has Blue or Splash JBG's for sale?? NOBODY?!?!UPDATE

Have you posted a wanted ad on Craigslist? That might help you find some if you haven't done it already. (I'm assuming you might have done that already, though.)

Otherwise, I hate to say it but I'd start looking into incubators. They're the best way to be able to get birds from all over the country, as shipping eggs is fairly simple and inexpensive, so it allows you a lot more freedom to get exactly the varieties of birds you want. Much easier than shipping a full-grown jersey giant, and less risky than shipping chicks.

Unfortunately, rare and more unusual breeds of chickens simply are more expensive. If nothing else works out, maybe save up for a while so you can get the birds you want.

Regardless of how you decide to go about it, good luck in your hunt! You never know, you could get lucky.

Ahh, totally the opposite 'round here- I have a ton of white silkies, about 4, almost 5 weeks old, runnin' around the brooder. i'm gonna put a few on craigs list, i have just a few too many as i want to focus on JBG's for awhile. I really got silkies cuz they're cute and hopefully will go broody for me.

Good luck finding some- if you were near me, id give you a few!! They're just hatchery chicks, but still cute and fluffy!!

Yeah, craigslist- all I got back was a bucnch of ads and spammers! Bugh- annoying, but I'm willing to try anything once (or twice!) I really did think incubator, I'm still highly considering it, the cost is kinda high though. I could get the ones with no auto-turner cheaper, but I have soooo much going on I could easily forget to turn the eggs, or just run out of time to turn them. I really dedicate serious time to my kids (x 5!!) and after them, I spend lots of time with our chicks and hens keeping them socialized. We also run our own business, so the scary reality is I could really screw up some poor defensless eggs!

I think maybe your right and I should save up- for a really, really good incubator and try hatching in the future. For now though I want chicks so they can grow up with my other chicks, mostly for convienence. They all eat the same foods etc, and learn to get along better when they grow up together (in my experience)

Know of any reputable, good quality incubators?

Anyone know if Wynette still has some? . . . She used to, and I know she's getting new stock, but . . ? Course I could jut ask her.

I have 11 BBS Jersey Giants. . . But they're 2 days away from hatching and won't give eggs for selling for another several months down the road.

I have had a hard time finding sources as well. I now have stock from 3 sources ...
Sand Hills I had and sold, because they were awful. Some may have better luck with them, I dunno. I have some from Wynette that are still growing out. I have some from Maria Hall stock that are my oldest, and they just now started laying. She charges a mint for her chicks ... $25 each on sale, usually $35 a piece! I found a breeder in Utah and have eggs in the bator, but they all appear to be clear.

Good luck!

Yeah, Craigslist can give mixed results. I've gotten a lot of my favorite animals posting on Craigslist, though (one of my corgis, both of my lovebirds, one of my parrotlets, my seramas, probably others!), so I think it's always worth a shot! If it doesn't work oh well--at least it's free!

I'd highly support investing in an incubator.

Not only does it make it much easier to obtain whatever breeds you want from reputable breeders no matter where they are in the country, it's FUN, too! Candling the eggs, participating in all the crazy hatch threads here... It's a whole lot of fun and a very interesting process to take part in. It opens up a lot of possibilities of what you're going to add to your flock!

I use my Hova-Bator Genesis 1588 (which many of us on BYC have and love), and it's wonderful! If you have a turner, you basically just set it, add water every now and then, and...that's pretty much it. Quite easy to use! I highly recommend you look into that one. (CutlerSupply has it cheapest, I think.) For its price, it's extremely reliable and easy, and you hardly have to do anything. I have a ton of pets and I'm a full-time college student and a wildlife rehabber, so I can sympathize with not having a whole lot of time.

I just typed in Yahoo Blue or Splash Jersy Giants they have more

Broke down today and got a little giant circulated air incubator.. I am really worried now. There are a bazillion threads for folks incubating, and even SUPPORT GROUPS for those trying to kick the hatching habit! I just *know* I will end up a serial hatcher...I just know it! But on the up side, I dont have an auto turner yet, so I cant buy eggs till I have one, and all the feed and supply stores are sold out ( I know that because I drove 75 miles today, going to 4 different places looking for one!) So, no eggs till I have the complete set up, and I plan to run it a bit to check its stats. Guess I'll be the next one posting the "HELP- Newbie to incubating" posts!!!

I will be getting eggs from Bobbi Porto, I think. But not yet.....(just as soon as someone gets an auto egg turner in) I'm a habitual caller when I need something someone doesnt have in stock, I think they get rush delivery just so I'll quit calling and bugging them!! LOL
