Day five down. 16 to go! Excited about that.

One of my 8 week old babies snuck under the backyard fence today and got eaten by the dog over there. Not one bit excited about that. My own fault. Got to go close up the hole under the fence a bit better I'd say.

Days six and seven down. 14 to go!

So the baby that I mentioned above was missing for two days, and obviously did not get eaten by the dog. She is alive and well and back asleep with the flock and I have no idea how she got there!!! It's my tiny little miracle for the day!

So I candled my hatching eggs tonight and chucked 5 of them. 3 OEGB and 1 Silkie and 1 Sizzle. Two had blood rings, two had detatched air cells, and 1 was not fertile. Out of the 8 others that I left under my Silkie, I saw one that was very clear and developing nicely. A few others looked good, just not as great, and the rest were questionable. One may have a blood ring, but I couldn't tell for sure so I left it.

So excited!

Days eight, nine, ten, eleven, and twelve down. 9 to go!

I need to candle again, this evening maybe, and give an update!

Day thirteen down. 8 to go!

I candled last night again and tossed 3 more eggs. All of them were OEGB eggs.

Two had bloodrings and the other was developing, but looked like it quit around day 7. I left 5 eggs under my Silkie. Four looked really good and had movement and the other was questionable, but I left it. Hopefully we make it and I can at least have these four babies hatch!

ACK! I'm getting so close!!!

I just gave away 4 chickens to a friend to thin my flock, and I am crazy, cause now I'm just gonna hatch out 4 more! (Hopefully 4)

What happened with the egg in the homemade bator? Did it develop at all?

I candled again last night and the four that were doing well are still trucking along. Looks like they are getting ready to hatch! The questionable one was still questionable, so I left it again. Yay! If all goes well, I'll have babies by the end of the week.
