I have a feeder with medicated (cause that's how it comes) chick starter and a feeder with layer mash in the run. My coop is small (for like 3 hens, I have 5 Bantams) and I don't really have nesting boxes, so my Silkie just set up shop in the corner of the coop. I keep deep pine shavings in the whole coop. My Banty Cochin pullet just lays her eggs on the other side of the coop in the corner. They don't seem to mind.

Chicks don't need to eat for 48-72 hours, so I'm not too worried about them getting food just yet. You have given me some good thoughts too. I need to put water inside the run and I need a ramp going in and out of the coop. Thanks!
