Set 8-26 anyone else?

Tried candling several times and just can't see through most of the dark eggs. There are three that are just light enough to get a little light in and one looks like a whole lot of nothing and the other two appear to be growing! The waiting is soooo hard, does it get any easier the more you do it? Only hatched out once before, and my Barred Rock went broody and took care of everything for me, came home one night and found 3 chicks running around the yard a day early! That was too easy!

Just heard a peep from the incubator! I upped humidity a tiny bit, but I was recommended to try a dry hatch by a silkie breeder and chicken judge so we will see how this goes.
I also got my live stream set up, but no promises that it will be up all night. My computer over-heats way too easily and the internet is being limited at the time.

today is the first time for me to set eggs! Seven Lavender Orpingtons and six mixed eggs from a red frizzle rooster, and his girls which include a Polish, Buff Orp, Black Orp and another that I can't remember. I wonder what they will look like!?? I did not realize until I loooked at what day the 21st would be and

It will be my birthday! I may have to put off going out to celebrate. There is no way I am going to leave on hatch day. I am using two Brinsea minis loaned by a great friend. The lady I got the eggs from said she could hatch a rock in a Brinsea!

I'm trying to not think about it too much - being that the eggs are under a hen, and that the weather is wacky - last two days were 100+ F, tonight is only 52F and high tomorrow at 60F. That should do anyone in.... :|

Wow, where are you located? We are in Louisville Ky, and last week was crazy like that! I think I have another Barred Rock Cochin going broody, wish she would have done that a few weeks ago, I would have let her do all this work and worry!

My regular Barred Rock went broody a few months back and I kept pulling the eggs out from her and then out one morning and found my to leghorns dead, prob the heat, so I let her keep the two leghorn eggs and an EE egg. She hatched all three! Our first chicks. Predator got the EE chick

and one leghorn was a roo so got rid of him. The last one is doing great and growing sooo fast.

Ours seem to have done OK with the heat this summer, and it was up to 114F at times without calculating heat index.... the hottest summer in OK history :|

Of course it's supposed to get unseasonably cold JUST as the hatching time comes up...

On the 26th I set 3 under my broody bantam barred rock as a last resort becasue I wasnt able to break her ( I wasnt planning on more chicks until next spring) Shes been like stone on them ever since...I candled at 7 days and 15 days all 3 were moving right along, and this morning I peeked and noticed the first one has pipped through, now the waiting is killing me!!!!
