What state are you in and is that house still for sale?
State? Physical location or mental state, LOL? I'm bleary eyed and exhausted in Georgia-that covers both, I think.
The house is still for sale, yep, just not pursuing it actively.
Ok, this was an odd hatch, at least in that bator #2. I have four BBS Rocks, one just hatched a few minutes ago drying off in the bator. There are five total chicks in the bator. They are not dry enough or my light isn't good enough to know if one of those other 4 is a BR or a BBS Rock. Sadly, I had at least 3 BRs in this last bunch with innards outside of the body, which seems to be why they weren't hatching, based on my past experience with this-we opened the egg and the chick was breathing and not chirping so didn't have a good feeling about it and we were right. It's almost always shipped eggs that have that issue. The BBS Rocks hatched on their own, just a day (or two, in this last case) late. It was cheeping to beat the band last night and pipped this morning, finally. And the NHs hatched clean and easy on their own as well. Could be the later hatchers were affected by cool spots in that bator and the ones with deformities were affected by shipping on top of that, but I can't say for sure.
Two BRs in the bator are having issues getting to their feet-one appears to have curled toes, but they could straighten out when it gets up more energy. Another can't seem to get one leg underneath it so it's behind it, but that could change. I've seen chicks that looked worse rally and be fine within 24 hours. One is running all over asking the others to play and one is shakily standing up, both of those having hatched completely on their own.
So, I think my total is 44, way more than enough to pick keepers from. I just need one BR cockerel and two or three pullets to get my BR numbers back and I have all these super interesting, super cute babies in breeds I never expected to have, as well!
I'll let you guys know the exact number of BBS and BR when these last few are completely fluffed out and I can tell black from blue.
