Set Eggs 07-02-11 Anyone else

I just put 7 appenzeller spitzhauben eggs in my little incubator, and eleven more under a couple of my hens that insist on being broody. I really only wanted enough for my little incubator, but I couldn't say no to the extras. We'll see what happens. My EE has been broody for a couple of months now. I guess she really wants chicks.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in. I just finished my first time hatch of 15 out of 17 eggs in my homemade incubator. Now I have 5 in the incubator plus 2 first time broody hens trying to hatch 2 eggs and a golf ball. Yes you read that right. They have been trying to hatch a golf ball for weeks so a friend of mine gave me some eggs to put under them. These are going to be surprise eggs again like my last hatch.

Hi everyone, between yesterday and today I have placed 41 eggs in the bator. They are mixed, some from a friend of mine and some of my own. I have guineas hatching as of today, have gotten 2 so far with 15 more to go.

Hi!! Next year my Aunt will be joining us. She is wanting to use a broody, and her chicks are only 4 months.

I am very excited to be incubating. I have a 3 year old daughter who is also watching with us!. I have never hatched out chicks, but my husband has. He is taking care of everything!. I plan on fixing up some way to candle them. It is very hard for me not to peek now. My Hubby is so picky about how long the incubator is opened. We have the 8 eggs and it takes him less than 60 seconds to turn them.

Good luck to Everyone!! Oh and Happy and Safe Independence Day!!!!

This is my second hatch. I have a homemade incubator from a colman cooler, a forty watt bulb and a water heater thermosat. I set 12 the first time, broke one and hatched 8.
