My 6 peeps will be a week tomorrow. Finally took the last two out. One had late bacteria as it was close to full term. My other Aussie was full term and just gone in the egg for no apparent reason. the other Aussie chick that I helped out of the shell seems fine now.
Congrats to all.
PS SHHH we set more eggs today.

6 aussies
2 araucana's
1 new hampshire red
Of course the Roos daddy is an aussie!

I had two BLRW chicks hatch on day 23 today is day 25 and I swear I still hear cheeping and see movement from my eggs. 2 out of 23 isn't very good. I am still hoping for a few more to hatch.

I had a silkie hatch with curled feet. It was the last one to hatch. I've tried the shoes, but I can't seem to keep anything to stay on with either duct tape or surgical tape. Does anyone have better detail on how to correct this.

It is day three since hatch. I'm afraid it is getting too late to be able to correct.

I wonder if you could get some of that clay that dries really light weight and mold him some shoes onto his feet? Just an idea.

I had one silkie in this hatch with splayed legs. I used surgical tape but cut it in half the long way so it was only about 1/4" wide. I also made it a lot longer than it needed to be so I could loop it around extra times. If you cut it too short, the ends mostly just come in contact with fluff. I also had my husband hold the chick upside down so I could do a good job of it. Two days later and with the tape off her legs are already all better! :)

Has anyone ever tried pipe cleaners? I have used them for other leg injurys. They are a little stiff and easy to "mold" as well as soft.

I only got 2 chicks hatch out of 22 eggs. Pretty discouraging. I could hear cheeping and see movement in several eggs until yesterday when one of my kids decided that the plugs needed to be in the bator and my humidity went up to 80%. I didn't hear anything at all yesterday and saw no movement. The two that hatched were late, they hatched on day 23. Some of the eggs were put in the bator two days after the first ones. Today is day 25. Would it be wise to candle the remaining eggs to see if any are still viable? Would I even be able to tell?

what do you mean by putting plugs in the bator? Did you plug up the air holes?
