Set eggs 5-12 Looking for hatching buddies

just had to throw out my second egg... the incubator started to smell and i was able to detect the egg that was smelling. I cracked it open and there had been no development in the egg for a while... clearly died a few days ago and when i cracked it it smelled horrible..the first one i had to throw out never started developing and wasn't nearly as scary as cracking open this one. The other ten look good and i hope they'll start hatching by this time next week!

Mine are hatching! 6 out of 11 have pipped, but this is only the 20th day. Im hoping for more pips tomorrow! So far it has been a long and uneventfull day. No full hatches yet, just pips, but i can see a beak already from one egg! Im hoping to have them hatch tomorrow, and not in the middle of the night. Im not sure how many others have noticed this, but when a chick hatches, it rolls the eggs around it, and it can hurt or kill them before they hatch. So as soon as a chick hatches, i put him/her directly under the heat lamp in my brooder, which can hold a temp of about 100, so they dont get chilled. How many other people do this?

Good luck on everyones hatches!!!

What is your temp and humidity set at right now?

Temp is 100.4 while the humidity is around 70%. Thats not usually what i keep it at, but i accidentally put too much water into the dish and i couldn't take any out without disturbing the eggs, so i just left it. How are yours doing?

Mine are still hanging in there with good movement in all nine eggs that are left. Temp is 101-102 (still air) and humidity is 30%. Hopefully this time next week we will have some peeps. I'm having a very hard time getting the temp to stay below 104. The thermostat is just a pain to work with. It was staying at 101 until it started getting hot outside and now I'm having to adjust it every few hours. I'm wishing I had have gotten a digital thermostat. I hope I don't get a huge temp spike that kills the babies.

Success!!!!!!!!!!! Last night at midnight, one little baby popped out! She was soooo loud that i had to sleep with earplugs in! I woke up at 2:00 to see if i had any more babies, but there was nothing. Then i woke up at 6:30 to 3 slightly fluffy babies in the bator! Now, about 10 mins ago, one just hatched, but im kind of worried becuase his/her legs are sticking out past his/her wings. I cant remember if the other chick's legs were like that, but i hope it's not some kind of ligament problem like i had the last time.

And remember the egg that i dented? Well, when the chick that just hatched kicked it, i saw a crack that i had NOT made on the bottom of the shell. I turned the egg slightly so that the crack is now facing the side of the bator, and not the bottom. I hope its ok, but the chicks were kicking eggs all over the place before they hatched, so I'll just hae to wait!!!

But about that chick that has it's legs sticking out, does anyone know if all chicks come out of their eggs with slightly splayed legs, and then they move closer together as their muscles strengthen?

Congrats on your new peeps! I don't know about the leg problem. Maybe it was positioned in the eggs oddly and it made them turn that way.

It makes since that they could move to the proper position as their muscles develop more. Maybe you could put something around her legs to keep them closer together.
