Set eggs 5/18 - whose with me?

I'm sorry to hear that several of us didn't get the results we were hoping for. I set 13 BO's and only 3 of them hatched. One was really pitiful when he made it out. He just laid on the bottom of the wire mesh all day on day one. He couldn't stand up. The next day he wasn't any better. I tired giving him water with a dropper. He drank it but didn't seem better. Shortly after that, he died. Later that day I had another chick that was laying in the bottom of the box dead. I don't know what happened to him because he didn't seem to be having any trouble before that. I set 12 pearl white leghorns and all of them hatched except 1. The other 11 that I set were just a barnyard mix of different breeds. I only had two of those not hatch. Out of 36 eggs that I set, 23 hatched out with 2 not making it very long after. All in all, it was a fun experiece and I am looking forward to putting some more eggs in.

Let me ask a question. The BO and PWL that I got, were all marked with what type of egg they were on the end. The PWL were marked with a grease pencil and they all hatched but 1. The BO were all marked with a sharpie except for the 3 that hatched. One was not marked at all because the guy picked it up from the coop the day we went and got the eggs and just threw it in as extra. The other 2 were marked with pencil and one of those is the one that was never able to stand up. Does anyone know if the marker could have anything to do with why they didn't develop? Maybe that was a crazy question but I just wondered.

well, i am going to set eggs again on Friday or saturday... hope another thread starts soon.

Well last night ended for me around midnight 9 pips thats it . I was expecting to wake up to babies. I woke up a little after 2 am still nothing and fell asleep on the couch. The temp read 96.2 but I moved the sensor and it popped up to 101.1 so I hope it didnt get to hot in there for them they are in a still air.
I woke up again around 5 or so nothing. Then my son woke me up around 7 still nothing. The one pip made a hole around the pip but thats it . He chirped a few times early this morning but now nothing. I am of course stressing out. I dont mind if they take a long time If I know they are ok but I dont know if there ok the humidity kept plummeting yesterday even with one hand towel to baby food jars with sponges and the troughs filled so I opened the bator jjust enough to add another hand towel on the other side the humidity droped to 65 but it had only been getting up to 71 or so , Even with everything in there its only about 72% Right now . I even have a big pot boileing water in the kitchen constanlty to increase humidity in the house.
Are they gonna be ok do you think . These are partridge (chukar) not chickens and today is day 24.

I started on May 20th. So far got 8 out of 12 batch. My first pip waited for more than 36 hours before it decided to come out finally.
So its torturous waiting game, but lets hope happy ending :).

UGH 28 Hours and nothing from any of the eggs. THe one that made a hole last night hasnt progressed I am wondering if the tiny spot of dark where he made the hole lst night was blood. Would that keep him from progressing if it dried up? I took him out i was right he pipped a vien there was dried blood and his membrian is all dried up

Three babies hatched by them selves . And the baby I opend the top of his egg this morning becuase of the dried out blood and membrain just popped himself out of the egg I left him in it wrapped in a paper towel but I took the top off and let him come out on his own.
I have one zipping as well now. everyone else is pipped except one egg but just staying pipped so far

my special guy , hope he makes it.
Little guy and one of the other chicks

Well my hatch is over. I started off with 17 chuckar and 16 pheasnt eggs , the pheasnt eggs were not fertal and also 2 of the chukar eggs were not fertal , 1 chukar egg quit befor day 10 I think and I went into lock down with 14 chuckar eggs. 13 Babies hatched today and one was dead in his shell. I think thats pretty good for my Little giant bator. I dont know how to do % for this kind of stuff can someone tell me what my hatch % was for this hatching. THanks

Here three of the last four babies to hatch hatch with in minutes of each other and take a rest together befor finishing the fight to get there butts out of those shells.
