I'm sorry to hear that several of us didn't get the results we were hoping for. I set 13 BO's and only 3 of them hatched. One was really pitiful when he made it out. He just laid on the bottom of the wire mesh all day on day one. He couldn't stand up. The next day he wasn't any better. I tired giving him water with a dropper. He drank it but didn't seem better. Shortly after that, he died. Later that day I had another chick that was laying in the bottom of the box dead. I don't know what happened to him because he didn't seem to be having any trouble before that. I set 12 pearl white leghorns and all of them hatched except 1. The other 11 that I set were just a barnyard mix of different breeds. I only had two of those not hatch. Out of 36 eggs that I set, 23 hatched out with 2 not making it very long after. All in all, it was a fun experiece and I am looking forward to putting some more eggs in.
Let me ask a question. The BO and PWL that I got, were all marked with what type of egg they were on the end. The PWL were marked with a grease pencil and they all hatched but 1. The BO were all marked with a sharpie except for the 3 that hatched. One was not marked at all because the guy picked it up from the coop the day we went and got the eggs and just threw it in as extra. The other 2 were marked with pencil and one of those is the one that was never able to stand up. Does anyone know if the marker could have anything to do with why they didn't develop? Maybe that was a crazy question but I just wondered.
