I saw lots of U's! Hooray.

Only bad news is, that now that I've removed that stinking egg turner, the temperature won't balance! One thermometer says 94 the other says 100....the humidity is sitting at 83 though so I'm pleased with that.

Hopefully this temperature works itself out in the next hour or so...I'm exhausted and it's really late. I want to go to bed, but won't until things settle down! I've come too far to fall asleep and let the eggs freeze!

okay, I'm on day 17 and this is what a lot of my eggs look like...I'm thinking it's not a good prognosis What do y'all think?

I am no pro at this for sure in any way so its hard to see what you have.the dark center could be the chick but maybe its an eye? part of a body? I woud say about 70% a no and 30 % a yes. Someone said they had a blood ring and opened it to find a live baby was there so .. I would hate to discount this one either. in case.Better safe than sorry is my motto. .Are your eggs white or brown?
Mine are brown so dark is black dark as your center thing. I still wouldnt discount it yet as a lot of it is not clear but sort of dark.I would leave it until day 23 in case but thats me.
Someone who knows should see this Maybe put it on as a new thread to see if some old timer knows what we are looking at.Might get better help than i am. Sorry I am not more help!

Hard to deal with all this temp humidity stuff when tired
I think i woud get my humidityut to about 65-70 thnough. Its what most ppl reccomend that i have read.
83 is a little highI think.
They also say error to the low side rather than high
Dont want to drowned the babys in the egg now when you have come so far.You can maybe suck some out with a sponge or washrag or cover part of the water things with a paper towel.?
The turner has a motor so made it warmer is probably why you temp is fluctuating now Also some ppl have said it gets warmer in there as they get ready to hatch.. heat from the eggs do it...This is nothing i am telling you that i have experienced mind you, only what i have read here in the past months.

Sorry Tera, that chick looks to have stopped developing about day 8. It is just too small and I don't see any veins. By day 17 you should see all dark in the bottom part of the shell and usually if given a minute or two, movement. Good luck with the rest, pray for some new chicks peeping in a couple days.

I remember my first hatch, I set 15, locked down 5 and had one hatch. You are doing great with your hatch if you're putting that many in lockdown. If you get hatch fever like I did, I'm guessing this will not be your last go at it. I am setting my 8th hatch this week since January. My first hatch, I had trouble knowing if I was seeing anything when candling on day 8, now I can tell on day 2-3 if they are going to develop. It gets easier the more you practice.

I don't think you will have any trouble if you boiled your water but it could cause a temp spike as boiling point is 212 F. I usually just let my water run hot out of the faucet to add. The bowl idea is great as it is easy access to add to. Good luck.

Mine were shipped as well, luckily I only had 5 so far that obviously didn't progress. My box was in perfect shape though, I'm so thankful to have a mail lady who doesn't kick my packages up the road to my mailbox!

The guy I have gotten all my shipped eggs from has been really good to me. He will send me some replacements this week. I have 2 Genesis Hova-Baters, I was trusting the electronic temp and lost a batch of eggs on Mothers Day due to the temp going low for about 4-5 days. So I keep at least 3 thermometers in my baters. I have one thermometer that is temp on spot that I check all my other thermometers against. I also bought a really neat laser temp reader for reptiles. You can point it through the hole in the top of the bater, click and read.

HI I just put mine in lockdown and forgot to warm the water Now it got cool in there opening it up and the water and i opened again and added somewarm water and added warm rags around the eggs then added a dry rag in one spot as it will get too humid i am sure..Geez mess up at the last minute.Should have waited until iwas all the way awake.Anxious.The temp is coming up 97.5 now hope it is ok to be low for an hour or so Went to 96.6!!GUCK.
My humidity is now 75 and the temp is slowly coming up 97.5 now.Guess i could squirt hot water on m y dry rag to help get it up but then too much humidity.GEEZ.Dont know what to do.Put a thread up to ask hope some old timer is on.
