DD, It sounds like your doing great! I was actually going to buy the Genesis 1588 w/digital read out and turner. But I couldnt wait for it so I bought the Hova-Bator 1602N w/turner I'm going to upgrade it after this first hatch to a turbo fan and keep it for hatching. I will be buying the Genesis 1588 aswell to do my incubating in from now on. I have have my temp range from 99-101 degrees the whole time and humidity holding at 45%. I have a buddy that raises blue copper, black copper marans, buff orp's and RIR and he has been raising chickens for 10+ years. He has a GQF Sportsman cabinet incubator and he told me to keep temp at 100 degrees and humidity between 40-50% and then move humidity to 60-70% on the 18th day to hatch keep temp at 100. I have heard several diff things from other people but he hatches 100+ chicks a month. Also his last hatch he set like 100 eggs and had 87 hatch so I think he's doing something right? Lol He also hatches his in 3 diff/seperate Hova-Bators so he don't have to change the temp in his cabinet incubator. That's where I got my idea to use 1 for incubating and 1 for hatching. I will however add that I wouldnt recommend taking the lid off several times a day in my opinion thats not good for the eggs. Also I wouldnt take the lid off to keep adding water several times a day you really just need to fill the #1 tray (Right Side Tray) about once every 2-3 days. Then on the 18th day when your getting ready to start the hatch fill both #1 and #2 trays (Both Left and Right Side) this should bring your humidity up to 60-70% which is exactly where you want it for hatching. I hope this helps

@ wholewheatchicken, I love my BLRW they have been my favorite so far. I have 2 hens and I usually get 2 eggs everyday sometimes only 1 but very rarely. I have my first set of eggs from them in the incubator now and I have a local show coming up so everything I have hatch will be going there. But I will have Chicks and eggs for sale soon! I'm adding a couple pics of them for you. My project like I said earlier will produce 90% blue's and 10% splash color.

I also have the Genesis Hovabator 1588 with digital control panel and the egg turner. My humidity was 29, but I saw that someone had the humidity at 40-45. I guess that's where my aim is at for humidity. Just added a little water. This is so much fun to have someone to chat with, when we all have something in common.
