Set eggs this morning. November 2, 2011

Eggs should be sitting big end up...maybe you just typed it wrong...but I thought I'd mention it!

Oh, nope I didn't type it wrong, just learning at the eggs expense. So I need to put the big end up and the pointy end down? I just figured that they would just grow to fit better that way, but thanks I'll flip them when it's time to swap sides later. Thanks!

Seemed backwards to me at first too...the aircell is located on the "big end"...that's why it goes up!! Good luck on your hatch!!

Can I join the hatch-a-long? I set 22 Seramas and 2 Ameraucanas Friday (11/2) afternoon. My Seramas are from Laura at Castle Delight and my 2 Ameraucanas are from a local friend. Just a last minute add in. This is my first time with shipped eggs and quite a few of the air cells were detached or not even visable so we'll see what I get. (I do want to say Laura packed the eggs VERY well, just the gamble you take with the post office though)

I put a batch of buff orps and bantam Cochin frizzles on Nov 2. But...that night I was hospitalized and unexpectedly kept overnight and was not able to turn eggs that eve or the next day. I candled some this evening and I am seeing spots and veins in some but not all...I 'll check again in three days....seems we got off to a late start.

I guess I'm crazy (well I think I already knew that) but for some reason I had it in my mind Friday was the 2nd. I glanced at the calendar today and realized Friday was the 4th. So I'm behind y'all by a couple days.

Candled tonight. It took so long to candle and mark them all (42)that I didn't count but there are a lot of live ones atm. I could see them rocking and rolling in there. So cool! I'll count when I go home. Now that I've marked them all it should be easy to count quickly.

I keep looking at the calendar hoping I miscalculated, but still only day 15 here

6 of the 10 silkies are going well with 1 kinda, maybe, but I doubt it...and still have the 6 marans as so hard to see anything in them, they are so huge compared to those little silkie eggs

Out of 42, 16 are for sure, I could see chicks moving, 10 were too dark for my light, and 16 are probably not but I'm too inexperienced to chuck them.
