Set eggs this morning. November 2, 2011

Well, these are my laying hens. I don't think I have any more layers yet, these were laying when I got them two months ago, but looking at the way their colouring has changed I think they were just starting.

Favourite hen

This actually has all but one of my layers, and both my roos in one pic.

the black one is another daily layer. I get 7 eggs every other day and two eggs on the in between day. (so 9 eggs every two days from 7 hens)

I can't wait for the bantams to start laying.(Cochin roo and hen and two polish silkie crosses plus one silkie) I want to raise a few bantams just for fun.

They are adorable! I would love a black cochin (it would match my cocker spaniel), but I don't think they would do so well in our summer heat. They do look like content girls!

They do seem to get along...

most of the time. There's been some recent restructuring going on the last couple days.

I have a huge yard and they have run of the stalls and paddocks so plenty of corners too go around and out of sigh of a hassler. The two big roos were squabbling the other day, but that consisted of one running behind the other until the one in front tired out the one behind. No actual confrontations as yet.

They've also formed little sub flocks to spend most of the day in and only really come together when we put feed out. (and in the coop)
