is your lid all the way closed or is the cord for the turner on that side and maybe lifting the lid a little to release your heat mine does that so i have a book on top of my incubator to keep the lid even but not covering any vent holes

I think mine does as well. What I did was to move things around ( heat sink) which changed the air flow. I aslo took the eggs out of the cartons that I was using to turn them and laid them on the plastic mesh. To turn them I gently roll the eggs so that they all change locations in the bator. When they get to where they are going next, I make sure they have a different side up than last time. To do this you can mark your eggs with X and O on opposite sides, or I have the laid date written on the side so I either have all the dates up or all the dates down. This way all your eggs get rotated around to different spots and still get rolled from side to side.

I will add a little weight to the lid to be sure it is fully closed. Good idea.

When I candle next time I will rotate all the eggs to opposite sides. I have an egg turner in there now but if it truly is 2° cooler on one side then rotating may even things out.

I think that's a great idea, too on rotating the eggs around. I culled 4 more eggs last night... They just never seemed to get started. I think I'm down to 29 now. All the rest in there are good ones. Now just a few more days til lockdown! Woohoo!

Milleryardchx, since placing two large books on opposite ends of the lid to my incubator, the temp has stabilized to a rock steady 99.5°! I can't believe how much of a difference that has made!

This is a great tip for anyone using LG or similar incubators. A little weight on the lid apparently seals the unit much better than just setting the lid on top.

Oh My Gosh! I just realized we are at day 15! Three days till lockdown!!!

I am way too excited about this.

How is everyone else doing?

Okay... so technically tomorrow is day 18 for me, if I count Friday Jan 29 as day 1 since I set at 9 am. So I locked down tonight. Going into lock down, I have 26 eggs left. Candled tonight and almost all are completely full except for my two slow pokes... which are moving well but will probably hatch late, if they hatch. I have my humidity bumped up to 65% and I already have two eggs rocking and rolling!

I took Wed, Thurs, and Friday off work so I can be on "egg watch". Cant afford to take a vacation this year anyway, so me and my girls will be hangin out by the bator sippn tea!

Today is day 15 for me as well. I am so worried! I've had a few temp spikes up to 104 and 105. I hope that has not killed them. I cannot really candle and say for sure, because they're brown eggs and all I see is darkness inside the eggs. I will just leave them all and do lockdown as planned, then pray they hatch. I will cry if they do not hatch. PLEASE let just one hatch and I will be happy!

Cannot wait until lockdown! 3 days to go!!

I hope I get at least one baby, too! But he might be pretty lonely in the 4 X 4 foot brooder we made today! I'm already countn my chickens before they hatch! I'll probably end up with one in a tupperware bowl instead! And we're supposed to get snow again tonight... Please stay on power!

Day #15 - 1 Barred Rock, 3 Barred Rock Roo over Barred Easter Egger and 5 Buff Orpington eggs going strong with movement. 3 more days till they move to the hatcher.
