Set more duck and chicken eggs

Yay! How fun! I still have two 2-week-old Indian Runner/Hookbill mixes that I hatched out two weeks ago and they're adorable. The one definately takes after her Runner daddy.

Do duck eggs need different temp or humidity? I was thinking of setting the duck eggs first and then the chicken eggs a week later so they all hatch together....

Wanted to give a update on my pekin mallard crosses...Went out this morning to feathers everywhere, a fox struck again but his time didnt get a chicken it grabbed my broody pekin off her nest and killed her before the horse went after the fox (he hates anything that looks like a dog)... So the 3 of her eggs not broke from the struggle i but in the incubator I so hope they make it... Sad story I know when everybody is having new babies but she was well liked. I have a few of her eggs in the bator from a couple weeks ago I hope they hatch...

I am so sorry i have lost ducks that way its so hard when they have eggs. Well tg you could put a few in your bator keep us posted

Hi all.
I am supposed to have some Indian Runner/Blue Swedish eggs hatching this week so keeping my fingers crossed. Unless they hatch early, its about four more days.
I am also supposed to be receiving (probably be here tomorrow) some mottled bantam cochin eggs.
I am glad I kept up with this thread because I need to go back through and see when my white cochin eggs are due for lockdown!!

Hi again!

I have two new Welsh Harlequin ducklings that hatched yesterday afternoon and a third that pipped last night that I'm still waiting on.

And I went to pick up the turkey eggs yesterday! I got 9 of them - the tom looks like a normal brown turkey, but the girls were all gorgeous shades of lemony-yellow, red, and barred-red that I've never seen before so I'm excited to see what I hatch out. He also gave me 9 brown chicken eggs to hatch - I think they're Golden Comets, which are a sex-linked cross and won't breed true, so I'm excited to see what hatches from those eggs too.

I haven't set them yet through because I can't figure out the stupid incubator I borrowed to fit them all in. It's an LG, and I followed the instructions to adjust it, but it just keeps heating up even when I adjust it down, and I can't get the temp. under 115 degrees!

Same temp. Humidity can be the same during the incubation. I like to keep the duck egg humidity around 70-75% when hatching. I have also hatched chicken eggs out just fine with that humidity.

Sorry deb that I didnt answer, I am brain dead sometimes...okay, not only sometimes.

As sundownwaterfowl said, around the same temp, though I usually keep mine at 99 if I can. Humidity for mine has been a little higher than for chickens but I have hatched chickens at higher humidities. I think that is what a lot of people do that set chicken and duck eggs to hatch at the same time, they put the chickens in a week later.
I got my mottled cochin eggs today, the auction was for 6+ and she sent 14!!!!

Annarie, congrats on your ducklings!!

And good luck with the turkey eggs, have you got the incubator at a decent temp yet? My LGs are kind of tempermental, I wouldnt put the turkey eggs in until it has remained around the same temp for 24 hours. If the temp doesnt lower, there is something wrong with the incubator. Here is hoping thats not the case!

I figured it out.

Turns out, the sticker on the little temperature knob is on backwards - so, when I thought I was turning it down, I was turning it up and vice-versa.

I'm working on getting the temperature stable now (thank goodness for my Brinsea Spot Check thermometer, because the one that came with the 'bator is way off) and I'm hoping to set the eggs late tonight. That means TURKEYS in 4 weeks!

WOW - 14 Mottled Cochin eggs? The last 6+ egg auction I won, I got 12 eggs. I hope you have a great hatch from them!
