Set my first eggs ever this morning

End of day 19, and we have our first pip! And peeping! I'm so excited, I don't know how I'll sleep tonight (and I was exhausted until I saw that pip!).

And this is what I woke up to this morning! Two strong, healthy looking babies! I have 3 more green eggs pipped that weren't last night.

The green egg on the left in the picture above is mostly zipped and really rocking now! And we have one more brown egg and two more green eggs pipped (for a total of 1 zipped and 6 pipped). It's going to be hard to go to work this morning, I'm sure we'll be late. In fact, if he didn't have a major upgrade starting today I'm pretty sure DH would call in to work just so he could stay home and watch eggs hatch.

We're up to 7 now! 3 blue and 4 black, and two more fully zipped and trying to push their way out.

As of 5:30p, we have 10 chicks, 5 black, 5 blue! I've already moved 7 over to the brooder, keeping a very close eye on the humidity while doing so (the lowest it's dropped has been 62% and that was this morning when the humidity was about 65% at the highest...this evening it's up to 75% and the lowest it's dropped when I've opened the 'bator is 70%). With 10 hatched already, that puts me at 30% (just over 50% if you don't count the eggs that weren't fertile to begin with) which makes me happy.

This little one just barely finished hatching while I was home for lunch (naturally, I was about 20 minutes late getting back to work

)!

And these are the 7 I've moved to the brooder already.

Day 21, and we have 16 healthy-looking chicks! 13 moved to the brooder already, 3 left in the incubator, and only 2 unhatched eggs (one of which is pipped). I would like to say THANK YOU! to all the wonderful people here on BYC. Without all the great information on this site and helpful individuals to answer my first-timer questions I seriously doubt we could have made it to hatch day with such a great hatch.
