Set my first eggs

Well I done it. Just set my first eggs. We will see. I have read a lot of information and am hoping for the best. I don't expect too much as they are older hens and some of the eggs look porous. Here's to hoping and I will keep it updated

Good luck! I just set & hatched my first eggs this month too. Did a lot of research before starting and that really helped me. Some of my eggs were porous and they hatched just fine

What breeds are you hatching?

My eggs are supposed to come today!

so we will probably have some fuzzy butts born the same day

They are mutts, barred rock roo and hens: rhode island red, buff orpington, black sex links. we will see what they look like

I'm finally (after 2 months of waiting) going to put fertilized eggs in my DIY bator tonight when I get home from work. So excited!!

I watched my first chick hatch today and I can't tell you how exciting that is. I am sure you all will love it too. The last 24 hours is very hard but worth the wait.

I set the eggs last Friday at 9 am, started counting on Sat, correct?, so today is day 5 and I am now seeing veining on the ones that I candled and even on the oldest one.
