Set up the trap for tonight - Game Cam PICS

I had carboard lining the back of my trap so nothing could reach in to get the bait, but wahtever it was spent a lot of time sredding that cardboard into tiny pieces before they reached the chunk of liverwurst. Rebaited it minus the cardboard but mixed One Bite into the liverwurst. Enjoy evil beasty, enjoy.

I saw a BABY possum in my run tonight. Stealing feed. Didn't even take the egg that was laid late and still in the nest tonight. I doubt it had the strength to pull a full grown roo through the fence though, and since it is small enough to fit right THROUGH the welded wire holes it would have NO reason to pull something through the fence since it could be inside with it instead.
Have been seeing some STRANGE tracks around. Nothin I can quite figure out. I'm gonna start a thread about them.

Well my raccoon is dead. A BIG one! My first coon trap using a leg trap, and next time I'll use a shorter chain. It climbed up the coop fence and got the trap stuck at the top and died hanging on the fence. Oooops, not exactly what I intended to happen.
Looks like a bomb went off over there first though. He tipped the box trap over to steal the bait from it and busted up part of a rotten pallet to get to the bait for the other leg trap, which was tripped but no catch, then he probably smashed up the underbrush trying to get out of the successful trap. I was like what the heck happened over here?? I was looking for the second trap on the ground before I even saw him. Never occurred to me to look at the side of the fence for him

Next time don't make the chain pull double-duty securing the box trap AND the leg trap. Eh

Be careful using honey buns and donuts, especially glazed! They will bring a bear to your door and then you have problems. Use some of that marshmellow creme stuff on your trigger plate, while bears like them too, they are not as bad about marshmallow as they are a glazed donut or honey bun.

I have used a large live trap for many years, caught lots of critters. Problem being what the heck to do with them after I caught them. I take them to a park about 5 miles from house, got caught letting a raccoon go by the ranger, he was not happy and asked me to stop. I still do it but am more careful.
