Settin chicken eggs tonight! 8-4-11

I had an out of body experience when I got my new incubator (BD present from my son and his wife) and filled 'er up...the egg turner holds 42 eggs and I figured like no way will they all hatch so whatever I get will be fine, even if it is only a few...weeeeelllll...38 of them hatched! I had ducks coming out my ears like forever...I was really surprised...I have been fortunate in that most of my hatches have been almost that good...

hey guys I need to know.. I found 2 bum EE eggs (have small cracks from curious beaks)I set the eggs late on 8-4.. Is it too late to replace one or both with eggs just laid today? Will it hurt anything if I stick it in with the rest?

my americauna egg are in bad shape! i candled them before i put them in the bator and there was some with cracks, loose air sacks, very porious, and i think they started to develop during shipping

for my experiance they will start to develop but because the shell has weak spots and may dehidrate faster or have a greater chance for bacteria to get in and kill it. but it will not always not hatch, it just lowers the chance of that egg going to hatch by a little bit. so dont worry u should be ok if you do everythin right. i was just throwing that in with the condition of the eggs

The guinea eggs are a little harder to see inside then the duck eggs I hatched. I hope I'll be able to see veining in them in a few days. And my 2 chickens didn't start peeping until they got threw the membrane inside which was on day 18 and then I saw a pip on the shell on day 19 and it zipped out same day. Other one pipped on day 19 and was out by day 20. Same with the ducks no peeping until right before a pip.

I think my eggs are doing alright but since this is my first hatch I really have no clue. So I'm gonna have to just let them do their thing and hope for the best. I can't wait till I can candle and see something!

OK So those who set 8-4 when this thread was started, tomorrow is officially day 5? Anyone do any candeling yet? I candled this morning (yes I know its too early but I cant help myself) but I am glad I did because one of my EE eggs looked like a large black mass inside. No movement, but very obvious big black mass.... I think one may have been quite a bit farther along than I thought

I hope he is ok because I cant lock down for just one egg.. plus I have no idea how far along it is.. What should I do?




NEVERMIND!!! I RECANDLED AND IT LOOKS NOTHING CLOSE TO WHAT I REMEMBERED!
