I threw out 2 more eggs today. 1 had a blood ring and one looked clear. So far, all of the ones I was suspicious about when I candled were in fact dead when I opened them. So I am feeling pretty good about my ability to candle now. I have one more that I think is dead but decided to wait a bit longer. I moved it a little farther from the other eggs in the incubator since my eggs are porous and I don't want to cause problems.
On a happier note, I changed the batteries in the flashlight I use to candle and I can see good air cells and movement in all 3 of my BCM eggs!!
I have 2 GLW that also have good veins and definite swimmers. So it looks like I have 5 viable eggs and one more probable tosser (out of 10 shipped eggs). It is only day 10, so I will candle the one in question on day #14 and maybe will candle one more time on day #18.
I am planning on trying the egg carton method this time to keep the chicks
from knocking the unhatched eggs around . . . assuming they do in fact make it that far.
