Setting 28 eggs tonight, feel free to join me.

I candled on day 4 and was really disappointed because I did not see anything. Then my mom told me to wait until at the very least day 7, so I waited until day 6

and got better results. I would not do it that early (day 3), or only do one so you can do a comparison when you do it later. However, I am very new (my first set) to this.

I try to candle only twice, once at day 10, and once at day 18 just before lockdown. Sometimes I take a peek at a couple, though, in between day 10-18.

What day are you on? Keep them in the bator until at least right before lockdown, if they're still clear. You never know.

sorry, been in Texas for the past week. I guess we turned the heat off when we left (it was in the 70's). We came home yesterday and had to drive through snow. It was cold in the house when we got home. One side of the bator was around 97 and the otherside was 99....back to normal now.... How long do you thing the eggs could take the colder temps?

I will becrushed if this is a bad hatch!

If they are set to hatch on 03/30 (Wednesday), then we should have gone into lockdown yesterday right? What is the correct temp at this point? I added water to get the humidity up (at 82% now), but now I can't get the temp over 98, still air bator.

The temp should stay the same.
I'm actually having problems getting my humidity up, and I took out a dozen eggs (out of 29) so I'm a little frustrated. They were growing nicely when I candled on day 10, but I had some temperature problems and my cats actually knocked some stuff over on top of the incubator and jostled them around on day 16. When I candled last nigh 17 looked good and one looked dark but didn't seem to have an air cell, I left it in the bator but I'm not sure if it'll do anything.

I really wish I didn't have a styrofoam incubator because they really are not the best, but I'm saving up for a brinsea octagon 20 advance ex. Hopefully that will take better care of my eggs.

I candled and went to lockdown last night.

Out of 41 eggs 32 were solid with a small air sac at the large end. Looks good....of the others, they were either green or dark brown so I could not see through. However, there were maybe 3-4 that were kind of clear...they are off to the side and I would guess will not hatch. I am hoping for 28-32 out of 41

temp is funny...with the LG thermomitors they say 102 and 103 on the tops....but my tube fish tank temp reader says about 96 at the bottoms?

Awesome! Good luck.

I just purchased a Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance Ex with humidity pump, hopefully next time I hatch, that'll take better care of my eggs. I don't like throwing away what were growing babies at one point because of stupid errors in my styrobator.
