  • No new red rings (early deaths), 3 total, no more potential RRs

Holy cow! Good luck. I had a humbling last hatch. 55% hatch rate and lost 4 after the hatch. I'm running this batch at 30%

Very nice!

I may have another order for turkeys, and if he confirms I will set tomorrow.

The set will include:
7 project turkey eggs which have a fertility rate of about 20% (the Golden Narragansett tom is afraid of the Broad Breasted Bronze and white girls, and they don't welcome his advances)
13 Narragansett and Golden Narragansett eggs which have a fertility rate of about 75%
All eggs have been refrigerated in my kitchen fridge since collecting, from one day to three weeks. All air cells are no deeper than 1/8" and no larger than a quarter.
All eggs will be brought to room temp and condensation allowed to dry naturally to preserve the bloom. Eggs will be turned for 24 hours before setting.
I won't weigh, but fertility and air cells will be checked at 10 days and 24 days.
Incubation and hatch will take place in the GQF at 100F incubator temperature.
I hope for 10 good poults, and I gave a buyback guarantee on any project poults as he doesn't want them in his Narragansett program.

I should point out that these eggs are the last from my poorly nourished layers. Since correcting my feed foolishness, the layers have gone from 5 eggs/day to 15-20/day, and average egg size is now x-large/66g.

Thing is, even with the good stats I can still end up with a lot of late deaths.

How old were your layers when you collected those eggs, and how old are they now? Just wondering if maturity has something to do with egg numbers and size.

I'm getting a Brinsea next week, and have a gal starting to collect golden sebright eggs for me this week. Also some seremas, silver sebrights, silver duckwings, and black tailed buff Japanese, just to fill the Bator. Fingers crossed for a good hatch!
