No advice , perhaps somebody with some experience might be able to help .
I added another EE egg and 3 more CX eggs yesterday to bring the total to 14 ; I'll lockdown a few hours late to compensate as there's about 16 hrs difference in set dates . My temps are holding steady at 100/100.4 at the top of the turner or , in other words , mid-level of the egg ; humidity 35% . I'm using a Hovabator 1620n with auto-turn racks . I made a candler from a small , empty glass jar , wrapped in aluminum foil , with an energy saver florescent bulb slid inside . The aluminum foil molds nicely to form a cup for the egg to rest in ; and a test on a white , purchased egg showed the air cell and yolk very nicely . I'll try a blue/green egg tonight after I gather , and hopefully be ready to candle in a few days . Fertility had not been consistant but was better the few days before setting .
I'm slowly building a cabinet style that holds 282 eggs , manual turner operated from the outside for 240 with another 42 in an auto-turner . Planning on using the Hovabator as a designated hatcher for continuous flow , split runs , later . I'm attempting to breed a dual purpose , blue/green egg layer with the Cornish meat qualities ; plus keeping some pure Ameraucanas on the side .
