Setting duck eggs on Saturday, 8/18 - Anyone wanna join? (Set by next Saturday for chicken eggs)

If you have a water heater thermostat in a bator they have to be blown out with canned air or a compressor between hatches. Especially if you hatch in the bator the dust gets in the wafers and messes them up. I have fourteen EE eggs out of 19 still in the bator.

I just ran home to check the incubator (I am still at work will be for another 20 hours) I had 1 quail hatch last night before I left for work now I am up to 8 hatch I was supose to only have 3 hatch today all 3 of them did and the rest wern't supose to hatch until Monday

The 20 new duck eggs just went in! The LG is super touchy about temperature - I think I'm going to have to candle the eggs over two or three hours to not bother the temp too much. But that's a week from now I also made sure to wash my hands well before touching the eggs to put them in - after losing so many to bacterial contamination the first time I'm taking no chances here.

Not yet I am stuck at work I was home long enough to check on them then I got a run (I am an EMT) so I will have picks next weekend I dont have a computer at home

going into lockdown as of day 14 has been done and not affected eggs hatching so yes fo into lockdown now and stop turning


btw candled mine today its day 12 all 24 eggs showing brilliant development, great veining and great movement in eggs

If the temperature was just a touch high it may have sped up the chick's development. I'd say go into lockdown - maybe your babies just developed faster. If lockdown is tomorrow anyway I don't think it could hurt.

Silverfox, that's great news! Here's hoping that when I candle my eggs tonight I get some good results Especially since I haven't candled since that second heat spike.

What day are you on Red? You can go ahead and lock down. It won't hurt if you stop turning a bit early. I don't worry about increasing my humidity until I get pips. Are the eggs chirping yet?

That posted before I was done writing. I am due to hatch friday, so I am on day 16 today. I plan to take mine out of the turner on Tuesday. Good luck with your hatch.
