CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Im still waiting for my 1 RIR. Day 20 now and he stopped wriggling. will wait and see what happen tomorrow. Think he must be a roo as stubborn as not pipped yet. lol

good luck with the rest of the hatch

Congrats you guys!! I can't wait for my silkie eggs to get there. Lol, I'm addicted. I've just agreed to hatch some eggs for a woman that gave me a free hen with a bad eye a while ago. She was afraid that a fox would get her, since they have so many in their area. The hen is doing great here and I'm hatching out two or three of her eggs to give to the woman, and some of the eggs from the woman's current hens. She has breeds that don't go broody so she really wants some more chicks.

Hes starting to get fluffy!! And now the rest are piping like crazy. I've read different things but when should I pull the little guy out and put him in the broder?

You're not supposed to open the incubator during a hatch at all. He can be in there for 48 hours with no ill effects. If it gets past that and you have to take him out, go in quick and put a sponge soaked in warm water in there when you do to negate the humidity loss.

That happens :) Man, watching some ducklings hatching is wild - they step all over the other eggs and roll them all around, and they still do fine. I'm sure your other guys will be okay, but if you're really worried and he's all fluffy you could do the sponge thing and get him out.

Aaaww! I can't wait for fluffy baby duck pictures.

I am feeling discouraged about my eggs.

They seem to be fading as I should be getting closer to hatching. Its like their development has gone into slow motion for something. The chicks are to small, there is to much light/empty space in several of the eggs. The chicks should fill the eggs at this point, but they don't. The chicks still seem to be moving, but things don't look right....I know what a viable chick looks/acts like in the shell, and most of these seem off. The development seems to be days behind, I am afraid they won't hatch or that they will go over by a few days. Tomorrow should be day 20 and none of them appear to be close to pipping. This is why I HATE shipped eggs. Just when you get your hopes up, things go wrong again. I have had consistent 100% hatches all year, even when I do everything you shouldn't like staggered hatches and opening the bator repeatedly during lockdown (I was teaching kids to candle eggs), and I still had 100% hatch rates. This is very frustrating. I hope everyone else is having a good hatch.

Aww, that's terrible! But maybe you'll just get babies a little later than expected? If the worst happens and you need to incubate more eggs, well, I'll be here until the 28th with my second batch of duck eggs to keep you company :hugs. Although I do hope you're presently surprised!

And Red, congrats! Tell those Welsummers to get their little fuzzy butts moving! Lol.
