Glad I got my off day request.. Had to intervene on the Maran that peeped yesterday and was making no progress even the hatched chicks were banging on its shell, I think the egg was too thick, I made the mistake of waiting too long last year and lost a baby duck, I figured what did I have to lose. It was stuck I cooped it out of the bator really quick starting taking off part of the shell no blood and noticed he had a stuck membrane over his wing and head, I wet the stuck membrane and gently removed that and POP he came out PEEPING his fool head off. He'd probably be dead if I was working tonight.. two more left to hatch one will probably hatch by tonight the other Maran not sure.. They are definitely some healthy chicks they keep climbing in and out of the egg crate.. Hope I didn't wait to long on the assist, I'm thinking as he's got a good set of lungs that's a good sign...

Here's the chicks.. Had to help the last one too something about those dark maran eggs plus they were shaped weird hard for the chicks to pip.. But everyone is out and causing a ruckus. I figure they can spend the night in the incubator and I'll move them to the brooder tomorrow.

I have I think two pure Black Marans and six mixes. It's hard to say what the mix is I'm waiting on a reply from the lady I got them from to see there are also two more brn colored ones but they were still fluffing out..

Yes hatching silkies and japs for me and some sizzle Frizzles for a friend...

Very adorable! You have sizzles? I am so jealous!!!!!!! Haha congrats on your babies! My 3rd batch of buttons are due in 2 days. Then all ill have left is 2 silkies and 2 polish's then I may be done hatching for now.
