Setting Eggs 12/27 Anyone else?

Well I'm on day 17 of my very first hatch. I set 38 eggs. I got rid of 13 which weren't developing. From what I hear that isn't surprising with shipped eggs. I just candled for the last time and everyone else looks ok. There are a couple that I'm worried about. One seems to have some room left at the small end of the egg (which I don't see with the others) and one has a really large air sack (compared to the rest). I did actually see movement in both of them so they are still alive. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Are they likely to die before hatching or are they runts? I guess I will find out in a few days. But I was just wondering if anyone has experience with this.

I can't wait for my babies! I'm so nervous. I hope they will all hatch and be healthy!

This is the biggest reason my last hatch failed.. I have 2 regular spounges in the humidity pan right now. I need to get the humidity pads from town today. This early afternoon is when my lockdown technically starts. Please any sudgestion are greatly appriciated. I am not sure why I am having a problem getting the humidity to raise. I can put mason jars inside with spounges sticking out with warm water but it will only boost for short periods.. will the humidity pads make more of a difference than the spounges?

Did anyone get good news this am? Any peepies??

First little one hatching right now! And this silkie is from my flock! Can't hear anyone else yet but I have a feeling the kids and I will be watching chick tv tomarrow!

You never said when your set date was! Were they due 16th or the 17th? I'm only asking because mine are due on the 17th but everyone seems to have eggs hatching early this month! Wondering if mine will start soon too!! Can you tell i'm way too excited!!!!!!!

Things should start getting exciting real soon!! I don't see any pips or hear any peeps, yet. I don't expect any until tonight or tomorrow. I actually set mine on the morning of the 28th. I am expecting them to start hatching tomorrow. These are all our own eggs, so I locked down all 10 I had set. Three had been in the fridge, so I am curious to see if they will hatch. Last time only one of my fridge eggs made it to lockdown, and it quit around day 18. I also set one of my eggs a day later this hatch, also. I have a bit of trouble getting my temps to stay warm enough, they keep dropping a couple of degrees because the shelf liner is limiting airflow a bit. So that may delay my eggs bit, we'll see. Good luck everyone, I see a couple of you are starting to to hatch already. I can't wait to see the baby pics.

I don't know what you mean by a humidity pad, but I have good luck just adding a damp dish towel or wash cloth. I just lay it along the side of the incubator. If you place it near a vent you can re wet it without opening the incubator depending on what type you have. Good luck!!!

Well, we went into lockdown last night! Very excited... I had to remove 12 duck eggs and 2 buff eggs, but we still have 10 buff silkie eggs, 6 duck eggs and the other 10 eggs are going to be a surprise from the mix from the rest of my chickens... all seem to be developing well!!! yay! Wish me luck!
