I had someone give me two turkey eggs this last summer. When I first saw one of them on top of the chicken eggs...I asked what in the world was that??! lol...the guy chuckled and said he thought he would throw a couple of turkey eggs in with the chicken eggs he brought me to hatch. I just put them in with the chicken eggs..had to separate them for lock down time..but they both hatched..and I have to say, those were sooo fun! They had big, and I mean big bellies! (big yolk!) They would topple over, couldn't always get back up when first hatched, so laid there in the bator staring up at me while I was laughing at their cuteness..and I loved loved their little noises! Boy they were big compared to my chicks. Rio's.. The guy took them back because I don't have room for turkeys.
Then, last fall, I decided to try something small for the fun of it..just the opposite..I hatched out Button Quail. Tiny! When they said they were as tiny as a bumble bee when just hatched, they weren't kidding! Pretty cute, but I love how the turkeys were as babies best of all. Too funny and cute noises. They were up and around the next day just fine after a day of trying to keep those full bellies right side up. Then the way they wobbled around!
If you do turkeys..have to see those pics!
