Setting Eggs 12/27 Anyone else?

Thanks for the advice and the warm welcomes! I candled again this morning and some of the ones that I thought were duds 2 days ago appear to be developing! Yea!

I can't believe how much they have changed in 2-3 days. This is so fun! I saw one of the embryos moving!

I do believe that chickens are addictive! They should come with a warning label! 6 months ago I got my first hens (as adults). Then I just had to buy some baby chicks. Now I am hatching eggs! And it's so fun! Except that my husband is starting to freak out. He's asking "what are you gonna do with all these CHICKENS!" Well I don't know... but I'll figure out something!

I candled on tuesday (my day 9) and I saw the little girl moving all around in the egg! It was the most exciting thing I have seen since the birth of my nephew. Watching an actual living thing develop is really great and I love having you guys to share this experience with, Thank guys!!

sure wish I could have a copy of this...a lady I work with has a 16 year old daughter who does drawlings and paintings and has won several 1st places on her work...She would love to do this!!

I wouldn't mind if she wanted to draw or paint the pic! That would be really cool...just make sure you show me when she is done!

exciting!! I already candled once!! couldnt help but do it a little early!!

What kind of turkeys do you have? I sure would like to attempt them someday for my husband. He would love to see them roaming the farm...

Good luck on your hatch.. Hopefully we will be grandmas together!!! lol

We had White Broad-breasted, Bronze Broad-breasted, one black and a couple Royal Palms. They are all so sweet and love being around people! We sold the Royal Palms, they were flyers and wouldn't stay in the yard...lol...but beautiful birds. Just know that Turkeys tend to eat A LOT! The Broad-Breasted also get very big, very fast, so be ready to process at about 7 months old...

I think I am going to candle my eggs tonight! Haven't done it yet, but it is time!!! I'm excited!

My DH is the reason I have ducks and he talked me into Turkeys. DH bought the BB last summer after I researched heritage breeds and we were really sad to have those two butchered but by raising them it proved to me we could. So I now have bourbon Reds. They are so interested in everything, and boy can they fly!

Candled, most of my eggs have the long go up the side air sacs. Now I will stress until they hatch. Some are pretty big. Right now, they are alive and well, but am hoping they don't quit early on me, or, when it's lock down time, they don't make it. Sometimes there is just too much space between the chick and the egg shell when the air sac is that big on the sides.

Well everyone I candled the eggs in the bator and we are down to 29 eggs..started out with 49 then down to 34 then down to 29... I have high hopes for these though. most of the ones before were either very porous or slightly porous and a few that I wasn't sure about.. himidity is around 40 to 45% so that is a big inprovement.. the door wasn't getting tight enough with just the latches alone..

Will candle mid to late week... any updates on eggies or peeps?

just thought I would check in and get this thread on the move again..
