Setting Eggs 12/28 - Hatching Buddies? Hatch-Along

I set 8 runner duck eggs on the 29th. Looks like 5 are developing.

Still see lots movement!! Some of them looked like they were dancing!!

I did notice that some of the showgirl eggs had "saddle" looking airsacs, is that going to be an issue? and what causes it?

Yay! Dancing chickies!

What do you mean by a saddle airsac? Is it a funny shape? Or malpositioned?

I set mine on 12/25 the drk brown eggs I can barely see anything the two extras the seller threw in some Frizzle Cochin's may have some veining and a drk spot..

They had a rough delivery here were a week late arriving and were not packed well so I'm sure some are scrambled..

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! :)

I'm a little late but I set 25 eggs in my incubator on the 31st. 13 of them are barred rock and 12 are easter eggers.I also have five under a broody silkie set on the same date, 3 easter eggers and two barred rocks.

Hi everyone! I am brand new to the forum and to chickens. I set 7 silkie eggs in my Brinsea mini! My first time hatching. My timing is terrible because I want to go to the Springfield poultry show on January 18th and that is their hatch date!

Regarding the "saddle" air sac? Do you mean the kind of weird, malpositioned air sac that usually is the result of shipped eggs? I had my first shipped eggs just barely over a year ago, and almost all of the eggs had crazy air sacs. I ended up having a great hatch rate anyway. Here's one of the eggs with it's weird air sac. It hatched just fine.

Welcome newbies!

Ducksinarow, I REALLY hope you have a great hatch rate because I think ducklings are cuter than chicks.

SeclusionFarms, are you going to keep all those babies, or are you going to sell them? Are they your own stock? Do you know what you mixed to get your EE?

LilJunie, good luck on your first hatch! Are the eggs from your chickens, or did you order them in? Odds are, if you stay home from the show, nothing will happen with your eggs until later. If you go out and enjoy yourself, they'll come while you're gone. I have to admit part of the reason I set up a webcam when I hatch is so that I can leave the house, but check on my eggs whenever I want.

This morning I candled, and all eight of my eggs are developing! The brown egg is tougher to see through, so I'm not 100% sure I see veins or if it's my imagination, but I feel pretty confident it's developing as well. Here's a picture of my little "crack baby":

Your "crack baby" looks like some I had shipped to me. Wasn't real impressed, my girls had better shell quality.

I haven't candled mine yet. Waiting till day 7, come on PRB's!!!
