Setting eggs 3/15/14 - Who is with me?

Hattch bombed. had a stink for a week not an egg could not find it.....hatch day i notice black in one water well? bleached before hatch. ... hatc h day one pip..decided couldnt open bator kill this one poor guy. shink him... so how to clean it? added pennys. heard it stopped bacteria..this morning still black but NO SMELL!!.
Guess it works better than i thought it would..proof
Oh pretty sure others are gonners this one who knows day 22..This guy peeped in am but still pip .May be building energy to hatch. some do for hours...Will see

Thanks for the penny reminder, I have a bunch of 1961's to add to wells
I give them 24 hours after pipping, I do watch for movement at pip but mine all take their time before starting to zip.
Still no answers to my peeping today awaiting is torture!

Final chicken egg hatch count:

29 out of 33 hatched. However, one of the three smallest egg babies died shortly after hatch... That's the only death I've had so far.

So I had 4 eggs total that didn't pip at all. I haven't cracked them open yet, but I don't think they even internally pipped. But I've candled them and there is zero going on inside - so late quitters I guess.

28 babies alive and well! (Though I have a couple with curled toes. I'm going to have to improvise some chick shoes...) Only 6 left in the bator because these were the last to hatch.

It's felt like Christmas today. And just like at the end of Christmas Day, I'm crazy tired.

Still have a couple goose babies due to hatch this weekend. First goose baby is still doing great!

Well after the stink fiasco..my one p ipped chick just hatched an hour ago .day 22.So not a total failure if i get one. and MIGHT see another star crack not positive .Alls well that ends well.

UPDATE....4:30 am..check the stink bators humidity in case the starcrack might hatch To my suprise..2 chicks now and 2 more at least pips!! ..day 23 ! Getting crazier!

I LOVE my geese! Ours are Africans. They are not house pets or anything close to that. We brooded the adults as babies last year and turned them out completely at about 5-6 months old. (Our house is only about 100 feet from a private 3 acre pond, so they are still close and guarded by our big dog.) There are 6 total, 4 boys and 2 girls. They are completely self sufficient and only get random treats from us.

The baby I hatched last Sunday was from the second egg I ever got from them. :)

Needless to say, I highly recommend them. They are very entertaining to watch.

is this egg alive?

Congratulations to all who have had success so far. Pics to follow later ;)
