Anyone?

You are fine starting in the morning....we set at 11PM and locked down at 5PM...now have 9/11 successfully hatched so I don`t think it hurt a bit.

We're at the end of day 20. Three of five remaining eggs have hatched!

We *very carefully* stole one egg from broody #1 (Chanteclr) and gave it to broody #2. Broody #2 (mottled java) kept moving nest boxes, so she's been setting on new eggs every day for 3 weeks. Now she's separated from the rest of the chickens and only has one nest box to be in. She's going to be so happy to have a baby hatch! We're planning on putting both broodies in the same 5' x 10' coop tomorrow. They can share babies if they can get along with each other.

This is the first one that hatched and the second one starting earlier today.

Well, three chicks have hatched so far. One little black cochin bantam (cross) baby, one Americana from a green egg (the first one I've been able to hatch!) and one little "special" mix chick that's got an "outie" butt. Has anyone seen that? Like there's tissue coming out or that never got absorbed. Its' been like that since last night. I'll take pics later. No time right now.

I really hope some of the others hatch, but I won't be surprised if they don't.

Happy Mothers Day to the moms! We had a very successful %100 hatch rate! Going to spend a relaxing day sipping tea and enjoying the chicks.

Sad.. so so sad. My sadness in losing my chicks from the Sunshine Silkie and Bobbi Porto lines are are vanished..

All of them 36 eggs-- none of them made it. I lost many of them at day 10. I candled them two days ago on day 22 - movement and then again today one had movement. I waited until this afternoon and candled again-- no movement at all.

I had set eggs in on the 15 & 16th, I decided I was going to live and learn-- it was a good experience for me. A sad but a good one. I opened each one of the eggs and found that all their stomachs were on the outside of their bodies. One chick moved so I let it stay in the egg in tact.. no movement an hour later. I opened it up and it's stomach was on the outside as well.

I've learned that my old/new thermometer was reading temps about 10 too high.

So I had tried to average out the mercury thermometer against the digital. Never again! I have already bought and calibrated a new digital thermometer and bought another mercury.

I have another two set of eggs in the Hovabator- I'm moving it to my bedroom where temps stay steadier. I'm not losing these ones.

Thank you to everyone who sent me their support and good wishes. I am so happy for all of your hatches and want to keep in touch in the future. You are all such wonderful kind and caring people.

Lots of hugs!
